Gearing Up

This is the first installment on what I hope will be a running commentary on my National Geographic story assignment on Amazon River Dolphins or Botos, on the Rio Negro in Brazil.  The field assignment does not start until early July, but I may make some entries beforehand on the process of preparation and research for a mjor photographic assignment.
